Glenn Gould

 

In the late 1990s, a friend once lent me the book Counterpoint to the Line by the musical filmmaker and violinist Bruno Monsaingeon who had brought together essays by the Canadian pianist Glenn Gould. No one could match Gould’s essays in either their depth or enthusiasm. His reflections focused on society, music, composers... and his illustrious colleagues and contemporaries. 

 

Upon discovering this artist, whose musical mastery and superior analytical views never cease to move me and fascinate me, I gained access to previously unsuspected artistic perspectives, to an incandescent magma of ideas that I strive to use today in my own works, whether in composition or improvisation.
